Farm and Equine Services Closure

We have had to make the very difficult decision to close the Large Animal and Equine veterinary side of Hay Vets, as of Friday 22nd December 2023.

In line with the service levels you have come to expect, we will be doing all we can to make your transition to other practices as smooth as possible and have provided alternative providers details below to enable you to make arrangements in good time. We are pleased to share that vet Ian Wickham will be joining local provider Black Mountains Farm Services in the new year.

Dedicated Large Animal Service Providers:

Black Mountains Farm Services (Talgarth)
Tel: 01874 618415 or 07814 128332

Belmont Farm & Equine Vets (Hereford)
Tel: 01432 351471

Farm First Vets (Abergavenny)
Tel: 01873 840167

Abbey Equine Clinic (Abergavenny)
Tel: 01873 840 069

We will continue to provide small animal veterinary services, including out-of-hours support, as usual at both our Hay-on-Wye and Talgarth branches, and we’re excited to be able to focus our full energy, skills, and resources on this area in the coming years.

We politely request that all farm and equine accounts are settled by the end of December 2023. For all accounts settled in full before 31 December 2023, you will receive a 10% discount, as a gesture of goodwill. Please also note regarding TB testing, that you will need to contact Iechyd Da (01970 636688) or APHA (03003 038268) to inform them of your change of provider once in place.

Should you wish to discuss any the above points with a member of our practice leadership team, please feel free to give us a call. We would like to thank you all for your wonderful support, kindness, and friendship over the past 17 years. We will miss being out on farm and visiting your horses, and we wish you all the best for the future.

Yours sincerely,

Guy, Kate, and all of the Hay Vets Team.
