Should your animal fall ill during the night or at the weekend, telephone the practice. This number is answered by a member of the team 24 hours a day. We can provide advice or arrange for one of our vets to see your animal. Bear in mind the person answering your call in the middle of the night may be at home, asleep. Please use the out-of-hours line in true emergencies only.
RECRUITING - Mixed Vet
2013 will see another baby boom at Hay Vets, with no fewer than 5 pregnant staff on the team. This means that we need to recruit an additional vet to start as soon as possible.
The role will be primarily farm animal work at the outset, as some of our current vets have to hang up their waterproofs for the lambing season. We are in a TB area and testing will form part of the job. We are actively promoting health planning among our clients and we work with some quality farms to keep vets interested and on their toes. An imminent merger with a neighbouring equine practice will see plenty of opportunity to pursue an interest in horse work too. Our clients include Cob & TB studs, pleasure horses and standard bred race yards. We will expect our new vet to take part in the on-call rota, which will include small animal duties.
We offer a friendly work-place, beautiful location and plenty of variety. There is plenty of support on offer for a new graduate. The partners also welcome interest from more experienced vets seeking a change of scene or fresh challenge.
For more information please contact the partners, Guy, Kate, Barney or Hannah, on 01497 820863 or partners@hayvets.co.uk.
Cattle Fertility Work
We have recently purchased a cattle pelvimetry device. This allows us tell you whether or not your heifers are suitable as breeding animals. Contact Kim or Guy at the surgery for more information. We can also provide bull fertility testing, to ensure your herd is as productive as it should be. Testing the bull BEFORE he enters the breeding herd can save you money by tightening the calving pattern and maximising calf numbers.
Kate's Course
Autumn 2012 saw Kate Platt embarking on a two year course of post-graduate training. The course covers all aspects of medical care of dogs and cats. Kate hopes it will enable her to help bring the latest expertise in pet care into the practice and help us to provide the best possible care to our patients.
The Healthy Pets Club
Our Healthy Pet Club lets you spread the cost of keeping your pet in the best of health. Booster vaccinations, worming, flea control and regular health checks are all paid for by monthly direct debit.
The scheme is available for cats, dogs and rabbits and costs less than £10 per month, after payment of a one off joining fee of £5 per client. We also offer discounts on food, pet accessories and some procedures (e.g. neutering) to those pets who are members. For an additional £1.95 per month your pet can also be covered against the cost of treating accidental injuries. This cover provides great value for money, and with it peace of mind.
