Pam Young RVN, C-SQP Veterinary Nurse

How did you end up working in vet practice?

I always wanted to work with animals and was lucky enough to be offered a student nurse placement at my local practice in Essex. I qualified in 1980 and have been nursing ever since. I moved to Hay Veterinary Group in 2013. I love what I do.

What’s your professional interest, and what further qualifications have you pursued to help further your knowledge in the field?

I have and always will love surgery and monitoring anaesthetics. Recently I became interested in Dentistry and Nutrition. I have completed the BVNA oral care course and become a nutrition advisor for Hills pet nutrition.

What animals do you keep at home?

I have two Patterdale Terriers called Aero and Rolo (chocolate themed!) who I love to walk when the weather is dry! I also have three rescue cats called Marley, Max and Nelly. Recently I’ve become a proud (and a little obsessed) tortoise keeper to Victor.
